Nur Wanita, Kuala Belait

Just when everyone (okay lah, only KB/Seria people lah…) thought that Kompleks Harapan is going to die… (as in no one will be going there anymore apart from paying installments in Baiduri, AIA Insurance’s office and.. what else again ah?), Supa Save Panaga is taking a major rebuilding project and an outlet is set up in Kompleks Harapan.

And last week when we went there to check out the Supa Save outlet and was surprised that a Thai restaurant and a dessert shop are going to open in that area! Woohooo!!!!!

So people, stop saying Belait boring okay.
(Next we’ll be having Coffee Bean and also Charcoal in Seaview there… The only thing missing is McD saja)

Anyways, we (my colleagues and I) went to check out Nur Wanita for lunch~

(All photos taken by a phone, again…..)

01

First impression, that place is BEAUTIFUL!
The renovation my goodness… the small details, the tiles, the walls, the settings.
It’s so pretty!

02
3/6 of my lunch partners today.

03
Really nice decors.

04

It’s a good thing that Vicky made a reservation for us the previous night so no disappointment caused.
For you peeps out there, Nur Wanita’s KB Branch telephone number is 334-7789 ya.

05 06

07

The perfect place to experience northen Thai food? We’ll see about that~

08 09

The staff brought us this “stool” thingie for us ladies to put our bags!
One bonus point to Nur Wanita!

We ordered:

11 12
Papaya Salad – $7.50
(…. in a really small dish)

To be honest, the portion in Nur Wanita is pretty small for the price we paid…

13
Yum Pak Boong Krob – $8.00
(Crispy Kangkung, this one must order! NYAMANNNNNNNN!!!! Thumbs up)

14
Tom Yum Num Sai (Seafood) – $11.00

16
Thai Green Curry (Chicken) – $9.00

I love this one too! Probably because it’s not really spicy but Sheepy said she had better elsewhere.
You know, taste is purely subjective.

19 17
Tum Tim Grob – $4.00

Ummm… huge disappointment on this.
The tapioca flour coating on the chestnuts are too thick for my liking.
And the coconut milk/cream is not thick enough.
Didn’t even bother to finish this (I don’t waste food one okay)

18
Mango sticky rice – $6.50

23
Banoffee – $4.50

This one yummy also! (A teeny weeny bit too sweet only)

20
Washroom – Gotta love the quote

21

22
Awesome fuchsia pink door or the ladies room~

However, I have two tiny complains about this restaurant…..

15
#1 – A wet bowl was served to us for the tom yum soup…..

10
#2 – Umm……. The fork wasn’t clean properly before placed on the table.

I’m usually a very careless/ignorant person but these mistakes are too big to ignore I guess?

But overall, the dining experience was great and I’ll be going back there to try out other menu. I’m particularly curious about this “Fried Spaghetti with Salted Fish” actually… Wait till I got enough courage then try ah.

Open-mouthed smile

Wan Choo’s Eatery

Tried out a new eatery in town today, Wan Choo’s!

From their facebook page,

WAN CHOO'S EATERY..A new kind of Eating place in Town ;)
We offer a range of home-cooked style dishes for people on the go. Our pre-cooked food is hot and ready even before you step into our cozy eatery!
An eating experience at our eatery will give you pleasure and will make you feel right at home. We prepare our food with love and passion as if we are cooking them for our own family.
We hope you will enjoy our food as much as we enjoy preparing them especially for you!

Located just opposite of GHK in Pandan 4.

The shop is nicely renovated and the ambience is just great for hanging out. I only got to know this place through Sheepy because she ordered cupcakes from them once and it was pretty good.

Love that lamp over there!

The eatery has limited seats, fitting more or less around 30 seats.

For now, they serve this “practice lunch set” (pre-cooked but yummy nonetheless! Had a bit of taste on their mixed veggies and fried chicken today and nyaman!!!) so get over to their facebook page and check out their lunch menu.

Hopefully they will start serving other food such as nasi lemak and so on on the 28th November.
So yeap, definitely heading over there again next week for more goodies!

Red velvet baby cuppies~

Oreos! Salivating yet?

I had two minis ($1 each), one red velvet and one oreo because I ate a little at work already earlier on and if you know me, I’m not usually a sweet tooth and these cuppies are good! Definitely not those which I only took a bite and offer anyone beside me at that time (which I normally do because most desserts are too sweet for my liking).

And this peach cake pudding / bread and peach pudding (sorry, I’m just assuming that that’s the name) is DA BOMB! Took the first bite and kept nodding to Sheepy for approval. I love it! Why? Because it’s not (that) sweet! The pudding is so soft and jelly-ish like tofu-fah with fluffy cake in between and jelly at the bottom and top with peach slices. On nom nom nom nom!

A moment of bliss which can be bought with only $2.50.

Go try!!!!!

Froyo @ Blitz

After a long sunny afternoon having a garage sales with the girly bloggers, non-stop munching on the air-fried assorted seafood balls and fries “sponsored” by Maurina, we decided to go for a yummy bowl of froyo instead of squeezing through the crowds in TechExpo.

Yes! A new froyo place in Brunei! Woohooo!!!!
(I didn’t know about it until the girls mentioned… sigh… orang kampung Seria bah)

Blitz, first floor in Mabohai Shopping Complex.

It’s pretty spacious inside, definitely a good place to hang out with friends.

The menu

$4.50 for small bowl with 2 toppings.

Mine!
Sugar-free yoghurt with mango and almond flakes toppings.

(We thought sugar-free will be very the sour sekali it tasted just as nice! A sweet (and guilt-free) indulgence)

Top left: Mine
Top right: Tina’s Mango yoghurt with double toppings of mango! (Mango OD!)
Bottom: Mau’s sugar-free yoghurt with mango and pecan toppings.

Hello, long time no see us (in our blogs already kan?)

Happy belated birthday Miss Sebenarnya, Atul~
Much much much love from us.

(I seriously dunno what pose was that… care to explain?)

… will blogged about the garage sale + mini outing we had… soon?
(Am trying hard to keep this blog alive okay, but a bit malas to blog the day 6 in Seoul.. hehehhee)

Excapade Sungkai Buffet

I remember just a few years ago… (2003 or 2004?) when the second Excapade branch (Gadong branch) just opened, I had my very first Japanese buffet. And that, was the only time Excapade launched buffet style dining, before they had the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and not the EIGHTH branch (!!!), and became the “brand name” for Japanese food in Brunei.

(Expand anymore and they’ll become the 7-11 of Brunei with the slogan, 总有一间在你左右!
meaning, confirm got one branch just next to you.

And just last weekend, I received a call from Siew Fong inviting to try out their buffet. The feeling, ecstatic!

When I walked to the buffet area, I was blown away by the settings!

What would you imagine if there’s a Japanese sungkai buffet? I don’t know for you but with my past experiences in other places, I will imagine as those… banyak yang cucumber, needle mushrooms, yang luxurious sikit, crabstick, eggs and if very lucky, got unagi small small piece WITH PLENTY OF RICE! Except for Shin Yeh in Taiwan, which costs NT750, which is around BND33.

But the one I had in Excapade… wow! Totally beyond expectation!
See for yourself.
